Teaching for all modules includes a combination of lectures, seminars and interaction with the Virtual Learning Environment. A wide range of assessment techniques are used, including coursework, examinations and a dissertation. Coursework may take the form of an individual and/or group assignment, individual and/or group presentations or invigilated tests. Examinations take place in May or early June. Students must achieve an overall pass in the taught element in order to progress to their dissertation which must also be passed for a degree to be awarded.

You can study the programme in an intensive nine-month format, or over 12 months. With both formats you will gain a firm foundation in financial management, investment decisions and research skills in finance, as well as an introduction to the main ideas and functions of international business and marketing. If studying over nine months you will then study corporate finance, strategy, plus four additional options in the second term. With the 12 month format you can study the Investment Analysis Dissertation (45 credits) plus three optional modules or the Management Dissertation (30 credits) with five optional modules.

Just over the road from the Rose Bowl is the Leslie Silver building which houses one of our impressive libraries across five floors. The library is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week throughout the year.

You will have access to Bloomberg terminals for live financial data, as well as a range of databases for use in quantitative investigations such as Bank Regulatory, Fitch Connect, WRDS, Boardex, EBSCO Business Source Premier, Zephyr, Dow Jones, Federal Reserve Bank and Thomson Reuters. These will be particularly useful for your dissertation research. You’ll also have access to statistical software packages for data analysis, including SPSS, EViews, Stata, Minitab and LIMDEP. Library staff with subject-specific expertise will be available to help you make the most of the resources on offer.
